Ajit Abeysekera joined the SOSL as a clarinetist in
1969, and has been playing ever since.
He has been featured as the soloist with the SOSL in
the Mozart Clarinet Concerto, and in the premiere of Sri
Lankan composer Sarath Fernando’s
Concertino.
He performs in many different chamber music settings and
also performs occasionally with swing/jazz groups. He
has been conducting the orchestra since 1995. He
especially enjoys conducting the works of the classical
masters.
